1. 為何要加入核桃高中華裔家長會？
Why should parents join CAPA?
答：現代在美國的家長常常沒有跟青少年孩子溝通的直接管道，很多孩子都不會詳細告訴家長在學校發生的事情，加入核桃高中華裔家長會，可以和其他家長以中文交流彼此的經驗。過來人的經驗是最好的學習方式。比如說，孩子選課的注意事項、孩子往文科或理科發展必須修那些課程、學校和學區的規則、學校預算削減、老師被裁員等，這些都是可以經由加入本會得到進一步資訊。深入了解學校、孩子，對自己和孩子都有很大幫助。
Answer: In America, Chinese parents usually don’t know how to communicate with their teenagers, so many teenagers don’t tell their parents about events at school in detail. By joining CAPA, parents can exchange information and their experiences with other Chinese parents in their own language. Learning from people with experience is the best way to learn. For example, you can learn from other parents what the better teachers and classes are to take for what they want to do in the future, what the school and district rules are, and how the budget cuts and teacher layoffs will affect your children’s education. By joining CAPA, you can get more information on the issues stated above, and being deeply involved with school activities can benefit both you and your children.
2. 為何要繳交會費？
Why do we have to pay a membership fee?
答：核桃高中華裔家長會是非營利機構，舉辦各式各樣的活動時需要經費支出和義工投入。目前參加的家長都是用這兩種方式表達他們的贊助與支持。此外，我們還在積極募款，目的就是將扣除支出後的所得款項捐給核桃高中，協助學校發展更有利於孩子的各項教學活動。我們的每筆經費支出都有詳細賬目，定期並由專業的審計人員稽核，以確保賬目公開透明，經得起家長隨時檢驗。
Answer: CAPA is a non-profit organization and plans many events to help the school that require funding and volunteer involvement, so parents show their support either by donating money or by volunteering their time to help make them happen. CAPA also has other fundraising activities, and the balance of this fund is donated to the school. All of the money spent will be audited by a professional account/auditor to ensure the transparency of the book and for the verification of parents anytime.
3.如何得知核桃高中華裔家長會的活動訊息？
How are parents notified of CAPA’s activities?
答：最簡便迅速的方式就是透過電子郵件通知。核桃高中華裔家長會每個月都會固定寄發電子郵件會訊，若加入本會兩、三給月都沒收到通知，請務必跟我們聯繫。另外，核桃高中華裔家長會也有網站，我們隨時會在網站上更新最新資訊、活動。
Answer: The easiest and most efficient way of communicating is e-mail. CAPA will send a notification monthly. If you don’t receive an e-mails for more than 2 months, please notify us. CAPA also has a website, and we frequently update the website with the latest activities and information.
4.英文不好，但有事情得和學校溝通，核桃高中華裔家長會可以提供翻譯協助嗎？
I’m not fluent in English, but I need to communicate with the school. Can CAPA provide someone to help translating for me?
答：我們非常樂意協助有翻譯需要的父母與學校溝通。在每年暑期註冊期間，我們經常協助學校的選課輔導老師(GLC)和家長溝通，若是提前告知，核桃高中華裔家長會可以為入會的家長安排這方面的協助。
Answer: We will be very happy to assist parents in translating when they need to discuss with the school officials. During summer registration, we often help parents communicate with the GLCs. If you need the assistance, please let us know beforehand so we can arrange someone to help you.
