Chinese American Parent Association Supports Technology at Walnut High
School’s Parent Organization donates $30,000
WALNUT, CA—On September 6, the Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA) from Walnut High School presented a donation of $30,000 to Principal Jeff Jordan.
The funds will be used for technology to help support classroom learning on the Walnut campus.
“Thank you to all our parents who helped with this contribution,” Jordan said.
“We will now look at options as our Instructional Deans request ideas from the various departments for the best ways to use the money for technology and student learning,” he added.
Once everyone has given input, decisions will be made on what is best for the school.
“It’s nice to have options!” he said.
CAPA has donated a total of $50,000 to the school in the past two years.

We are sorry to hear what happened at Walnut High in regards to the AP Exam in May and we truly understand the anxiety this may have caused among your families. It is our desire and we will make every effort to minimize the negative impact brought along by this incident as much as possible. We have made arrangement with SAT Professional who specializes in SAT and AP exam, to provide review courses to our affected students in Walnut High. These classes are offered free to CAPA member at a first come first serve basis. Schedule is indicated below however location is yet to be determined. To register, please reply with your child’s name, the subject(s) you want to take, and parent contact number. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact Betty at (626) 506-7577.
A message from WALNUT HIGH SCHOOL
Good Evening:
If you recall I had told you that we were experiencing Administrative Irregularities during AP testing. I now have more information I need your help in. Due to multiple break-ins on our campus during AP testing this past May in which exams were stolen, we received notification from ETS that our students who took AP exams in Calculus AB, US History, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and 11th Grade English will not be scored.
The perpetrator of this crime has created a huge negative effect on our students of these exams, our school, and the community. I will be holding a meeting for our parents and students involved with these test on Monday, July 11 at 7:00 pm in the Walnut High School Gymnasium. During this time I will explain the details of the events and discuss options for the future.
In the meantime, if any of our community members have any information that could help us find the pepetrator, please call WE TIP at 1-800-78-CRIME. At this time there is a possible reward of $2,500.

We’d like to express our sincere appreciation for your support to our Parking Lot Sale. Given the involvement from both parents and students, the Friday night presale on 11/19 was a very successful event. The rainy weather did not allow the parking lot sale to take place as planned on 11/20/10. We decide to hold another sale on Saturday, 12/04/10. We continue to look for your support and participation. On behalf of Mary, Summe, Michelle, Theresa, Wen and all of the CAPA members, I’d like to thank each parent and student volunteer for their time; say “thank you” to each family and friend for their participation. CAPA will be hosting its 2011 College Admission Seminar on 09/25/2010 at Walnut Senior Center from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. If you want to know the admission standards for the most selective colleges, how do you solve the college admission puzzle and what are the changes in college admission process. Please don’t miss this once-a-year event. Among our guest speakers are Admission Officers from Cal Tech, UCLA and USC. We will also have an open Q &A session with these admission officers. If you’d like to find out more details about this seminar, please refer to the attached document. Principle Jeff Jordan will join the meeting to tell us current school situation and the effect on the students and teachers from the budget cut. We will also discuss the events and activities for this year, particularly the College Admission Seminar, in the meeting. Walnut Valley Unified District is hosting a group of principals from Shanghai in October and November and our superintendent, Dr. Cyndy, is looking for families who can host one of the visiting principals from Shanghai in October or November for two weeks.
